Shedding the Blue Light on Safety
Campus safety is of the utmost importance to the Touro University California campus. For this reason, the Safety Office at Touro University California announces the introduction of 10 Blue Light Emergency Phone towers placed throughout the campus. The phone towers and stations are strategically located to be easily accessible, with the majority of the phones located in the parking lots, stairways and sidewalks.
Each of the phones, created by the Talk-A-Phone company, features one button use and dials directly to the campus security for an immediate response.
To make a call, simply push the button, which will activate a flashing blue strobe light. It is not necessary to hold the button to continue talking. You will immediately be connected to an on-duty campus security officer. Inform the officer of your situation and what assistance you need. The Blue Light Phones cannot be used to call 911 or other outside numbers.
There are small red lights on the call box that indicate your was call placed, received, and help is on the way. A picture of the Blue Light Emergency Phone is attached.
Blue Light Phones are located at Lot E and Lot D-1 by Lander Hall; the bottom and center of Harter Way Staircase; Upper West Tower and the Amphitheatre by Farragut Inn; and Lot D-2, rear stairs, parking garage and north hall by Wilderman Hall. A map of their locations is attached.
